Plenty of agencies claim Shopify Partner status, but not all of them hold it. Here is how to verify a Shopify Partner in a few minutes. Look it up in the Shopify Partner Directory, check the tier badge on its profile, read the reviews, and see whether it asks for store access through a collaborator account instead of your login. Add two checks on references and the contract, and you’re covered before you hire. We use our own listing as the worked example, with ratings as they appeared on 13 October 2026.
Shopify Partner Verification in Six Steps
1. Find the Agency in the Shopify Partner Directory
Search Shopify’s own directory, not a link the agency sent you. Check that the website, email and location match what they told you, and note the “Partner since” date. Our listing shows Seventh Triangle Consulting as a service partner since September 2018, based in New Delhi. If you’re still building a shortlist, briefing agencies with an RFP gives you quotes you can compare once the names check out.
2. Check Shopify Partner Tier on the Live Listing
The listing carries the tier badge. Shopify says partners are tiered on several factors, including history of experience and proven success on Shopify. Our listing showed the Premier tier that day.
Don’t trust a badge image on an agency’s website or pitch deck. Match it to the live listing, because tiers refresh every quarter. That match is the core of Shopify partner badge verification. A tier shows scale, not fit, so read what the Premier tier signals before you lean on it.
3. Read the Shopify Partner Directory Reviews, Then the Rest
Directory reviews are scored on quality of work and communication. Seventh Triangle Consulting reviews appear in two places. The listing carried a perfect 5.0 rating based on 32 reviews. Clutch showed 4.8 from 33 reviews, with verified reviews marked. Two platforms rarely match, and that’s normal.
Read the lower scores and the “what could be better” answers. Clutch’s summary of our reviews notes that a few clients wanted better documentation and post-deployment testing. That’s the kind of detail to look for on any agency’s page.
4. Test How They Ask for Access
A real partner requests Shopify collaborator access through its Partner account, and you approve it. You give the partner a 4-digit request code, and only partners you share it with can send a request. Partners must also use two-step authentication.
The request shows when the partner joined, roughly how many merchants it works with, and the country it was sent from, with a possible-VPN flag. Shopify says these details don’t guarantee identity, so confirm you were expecting the request.
Give only the permissions the job needs. Auditing doesn’t usually require editing rights, so ask for view-only permissions where possible. Collaborators don’t count toward your user limit; you can remove them at any time, and access expires after 90 days without a login. Never share an owner login.
5. Call Two References
Shopify agency reviews only show what clients chose to write, so a phone call fills the gaps. Ask for two clients of similar size and setup. Find out how the agency dealt with past mistakes, and what actually went wrong in those cases.
6. Put the Rules in the Contract
Name the team. List the permissions and say access runs through a collaborator account. State that you own the theme, code and accounts, and require handover documentation. Add support terms, including Shopify support and maintenance, and how you'll cost changes.
Shopify Expert Red Flags and Fake Shopify Experts
Fake Shopify experts often look polished on the surface. Walk away, or slow down, if you see any of these:
-
No directory listing, or details that don’t match what you were told.
-
A tier claim you can’t find on the listing.
-
A request for your owner login, a password, or a full-access staff invite.
-
Reviews with no names or details that all say the same thing.
-
No references, or references who can’t talk.
-
Pressure to pay everything upfront or sign today.
If a partner breaks Shopify’s Partner Program Agreement, you can report it through Shopify’s Report a Partner violation form.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I verify that an agency is a real Shopify Partner?
Search for it in the Shopify Partner Directory and match the name, website and email to what you were given. Look at the “Partner since” date and the tier badge. Then see how it asks for store access: a real partner sends a collaborator request that you approve in your admin.
2. Where can I find Seventh Triangle Consulting reviews?
On the Shopify Partner Directory listing and on Clutch. On 13 October 2026, the directory showed 5.0 from 32 reviews, and Clutch showed 4.8 from 33. Both can change, so check the current pages. Clutch’s reviews also include a section on what the agency could have done better.
3. Can I trust a Shopify partner badge on an agency’s website?
Not on its own. Badge images are easy to copy, and tiers refresh every quarter, so an old badge may be out of date. Match it to the live listing in the Shopify Partner Directory, which is the one source that shows the current tier.
4. What is safer, Shopify collaborator access or sharing a login?
Collaborator access. Each collaborator signs in with their own account and can only do what you’ve given them permission to do. Every action is tied to that account, and you can remove it at any time. Sharing an owner login gives away full control and makes it hard to tell who did what.
5. What permissions should I give an agency, and for how long?
Give the least the job needs. An audit may need only view access, but a theme build requires more. Review the permissions on each request before you approve it. Remove the collaborator when the work ends. After 90 days with no sign-in, permissions lapse on their own.
6. What do I do if I believe an agency is fake or breaking the rules?
Don’t approve any access request you didn’t expect, and reject it if you don’t know the sender. If a partner breaks the terms of the Shopify Partner Program Agreement, report it using the Report a Partner violation form, and include whatever evidence you have.
7. Which contract clauses protect me when I hire a Shopify agency?
Include a named team, the permissions and how access is granted, and ownership of your theme, code and accounts. Add handover documentation, support terms and how changes are priced. These clauses matter because a good review can’t protect you if the contract is vague.
