What happens when growth moves faster than the systems built to support it? That was the challenge Physics Wallah faced. As millions of students joined the platform, demand for its learning products surged. The Physics Wallah (PW) Store was getting busier, with students buying books, course modules, and other educational products every day.
But the problem wasn’t demand. The store simply wasn’t built to handle growth at that scale.
Students could shop through the PW website or inside the app, while the sales team worked separately. What looked like one store to students was actually running across different systems behind the scenes.
That’s where Seventh Triangle came in. We brought these experiences together into one connected e-commerce system- linking the app, website, and sales team. Here’s what we found, what we changed, and how we built the foundation for PW’s next stage of growth.
One store, two front doors
The problem wasn’t that Physics Wallah had two ways to shop. It was that the two shopping experiences ran on separate systems.
Students could buy from the PW Store through the website or directly inside the PW Live app. To them, it looked like one store. Behind the scenes, the two systems didn’t share data or work together.
As the number of students and orders grew, this setup became harder to manage and scale.
That’s where Physics Wallah brought in Seventh Triangle to solve three key problems:
Problem 1: The Store didn't know who you were
If a student bought something in the app and then visited the website, the system treated them as two different people. PhysicsWallah could never see one full picture of a single student's shopping history.
Problem 2: There was no marketing operating system
PhysicsWallah ran several marketing tools, and each one counted things its own way. When the marketing team asked which campaign made money, different tools gave different answers. When your reports disagree, you stop trusting all of them.
Problem 3: Every student saw the same shop
For example, a student preparing for NEET and a student preparing for UPSC saw more or less the same page, even though they needed completely different books. Physics Wallah knew they were different. The Store had no way to act on it.
How did the Seventh Triangle solve it?
At Seventh Triangle, our approach to growth engineering is straightforward:
"We don't run campaigns. We build the system campaigns run on."
We didn't view this project as a routine migration. We approached it as a complete re-architecting of the identity, data, and activation layers that sit beneath the commerce interface.
Layer 1: Unified Identity & SSO
Before this, a student browsing the app was treated like a total stranger the moment they visited the web store. Seventh Triangle closed that gap by building a seamless phone-OTP login system using Shopify Multipass. Now, a student's profile follows them effortlessly across both surfaces-giving PW the single, connected view of their learners they had been missing.
Layer 2: A Single Source of Truth
Before, the team had to check five different tools to see if an ad worked. We plugged all their tools (Google Analytics, Facebook ads, app trackers) into one centralized Unified Data Warehouse. Now, they can easily trace a student's path from seeing an ad to buying a book, no matter where it happens.
Layer 3: Cohort-Intelligent Activation
We made the store intelligent enough to personalize itself. The moment a student opens the site, it automatically shows products tailored to their specific exam, whether that's JEE, NEET, or UPSC. Plus, we built custom Frequently-Bought-Together (FBT) discovery APIs hosted on AWS EKS + API Gateway that suggest complementary study bundles, boosting sales while saving students time.
Unifying Nine Platforms into 3 Smart Layers
Layer 1: Identity & Engagement
-
Custom Login System (Built by S7C): Multipass SSO middleware that connects app and web visits to one learner, one identity.
-
MoEngage (Integrated): Manages student messaging, notifications, and lifecycle communication.
Layer 2: Data & Measurement
-
Unified Data Warehouse (Built by S7C): A central dashboard acting as the single source of truth for all sales and marketing data.
-
Tracking & Ad Platforms (Integrated):
-
GA4: Website traffic and behavior analytics.
-
Meta (Pixel + CAPI): Facebook & Instagram ad tracking.
-
AppsFlyer: Mobile app campaign attribution.
-
Search / Merchant: Google search and product feed analytics.
Layer 3: Experience & Activation
-
Cohort Personalization Engine (Built by S7C): Uses Shopify Metaobjects to automatically tailor the store based on a student’s specific exam focus.
-
Smart Recommendation Engine (Built by S7C): "Frequently Bought Together" middleware hosted on AWS (EKS + API Gateway) to surface relevant book bundles.
-
Judge.me (Integrated): Displays real student reviews and social proof directly on product pages.
By shifting from disconnected software licenses to a single integrated martech ecosystem, PhysicsWallah transformed its store into a high-converting, marketer-driven engine.
The Shift: From Disconnected Apps to Real Results
By bringing all their tech under one roof, PhysicsWallah transformed their online store:
-
Better Sales & Conversions: Smooth user journeys that turn visitors into buyers.
2. Run by Marketers, Not Engineers: The team can launch new campaigns independently without writing code.
3. Zero Wasted Software: Replaced separate, expensive app licenses with one unified ecosystem.
Built for Scale, Built to Last
Physics Wallah needed more than a better store. It needed an e-commerce system that could keep up with its growth. Seventh Triangle connected the pieces, simplified the experience, and built the foundation for what comes next. Because at Seventh Triangle, we don’t just build e-commerce. We build it to scale.
